The Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC) is a European Commission initiative supporting European cities towards the green and digital transition of their local economies, through Local Green Deals. ICC helps European cities harness the power of cutting-edge technologies, while improving their economic competitiveness, social resilience and their citizens' quality of life.
On June 18th and 19th, 2024, the City of Porto hosted the “Local Green Deals from Commitment to Action: Intelligent Cities Challenge Conference and Mayors Business Forum”, which focused on Local Green Deals. The event was organized in the beautiful Palacio da Bolsa. It brought together representatives from around 60 ICC core cities, 8 ICC mentor cities, and key ICLEI members like Aalborg, Aarhus, Lisbon, and Mannheim.
The event aimed to provide training and coaching on the Local Green Deal (LGD) approach, foster collaboration between political and business leaders in the Mayors-Business Forum to drive cleantech innovation, and support cities' climate neutrality and sustainable economic growth. City leaders, policymakers, and industry experts came together to tackle urban development challenges in interactive sessions and seized collaborative opportunities.
The 2-day event featured a blend of keynote speeches, plenary sessions, city challenges, high-level roundtable discussions, and best practices from various cities, alongside several networking moments. This was a great opportunity to discuss key points with experts, unlocking and advancing LGD partnerships, and connecting with other cities across Europe to initiate joint initiatives and address common challenges.
Solutions
After organizing the ICC Conference in 2022, OFCORES was once again responsible for managing suppliers, the venue, catering, audiovisual equipment, accommodation, gifts, printing materials, and the registration platform for the event. Our team oversaw the project from start to finish, ensuring smooth coordination with partners, suppliers, hotels, city representatives, speakers, and attendees. We are very grateful to work again on this project.
